Our unforgettable trip to Weeksville!

Please enjoy some photos from our unforgettable trip to Weeksville this past Thursday! It was a truly special day for our students, who have been diving deep into poetry and performing arts in their ongoing workshops with the incredibly talented Najee and Jrose from Sparkhouse.

During the visit, students had the chance to explore the profound and inspiring history of the Weeksville community. They toured the historic houses, engaged in meaningful conversations about the legacy of the neighborhood, and reflected on how history connects with their own lives and artistic expression. As part of the experience, they also participated in a hands-on art activity that encouraged self-expression and creativity. The students not only created powerful work but also had the chance to share their pieces with each other in an impromptu showcase, highlighting their growth and passion.

In addition to the student activities, we had the pleasure of speaking with Morgan, who oversees Weeksville. We’re excited about the possibilities of building a deeper partnership between Weeksville and Glenwood, expanding the ways we can connect our communities through art, education, and cultural preservation.

We are also deeply appreciative of Weeksville’s generosity—they’ve graciously provided us with access to conference rooms at no cost so we can host our staff meetings in a beautiful and inspiring setting. Their support makes a huge difference in our work, and we’re grateful to be building such a meaningful relationship with them.
