Shout out to Robert Clark! He’s a longtime supporter of FDC and neighbor who DJs the annual Flatbush Frolic and any event in need of music. He founded Cortelyou Road Radio back in 2014, a free streaming radio channel for Ditmas Park which supports small businesses. You’ll hear it bumping in Natural Frontier on Cortelyou Road. Robert produces music for the Department of Education for musical learning. He also holds a black belt in Jiu Jitsu! (He supplies his Jiu Jitsu professor music for his studio too).
Robert got his start on 1010 WINS radio station where he brought them from tape to digital as their Production Manager. For the past 7 years he’s been doing work for FDC but he’s lived in Flatbush since 1992. That’s the year he and his family moved from the East New York projects into his grandmother’s home and he’s been here ever since. Now he’s raised 4 children of his own in the neighborhood. It’s neighbor’s like Robert who make Flatbush feel like a close knit community.
Robert says, “I have built so many wonderful relationships.” He agrees there is something different about Flatbush here from other urban neighborhoods. “There’s a real sense of community here…we’re such a cool neighborhood and we love and care about each other.”
Robert told me right now he’s been listening to Tems and Burna Boy but he’s always Shazaming and searching for new music.
Here is an article about Robert from the Brooklyn Paper.
