Background
Leaster Williams-Taitt is a dedicated spokesperson for both youth and the underserved community. She has worked in many different sectors of the social service world where she has helped house the homeless, assisted at-risk youth with obtaining the necessary counseling services needed to sustain a positive lifestyle as well as advocated for the rights of those who were deemed undesirable to society. Leaster has also worked alongside OPWDD to assist those families in need of services obtain the necessary services while employed at Advance Care Alliance. She was the founder of two parenting workshops while employed at C.T.I Harlem for women who were incarcerated and or recently released from prison. Leaster has a background working with OMH and DOH as well. It was under DOH that Leaster realized her passion was to help those who felt as if they did not have a voice in this world find their voice. Leaster has an autistic son who is her pride and joy as well as the driving force behind her advocacy.
She attended Adelphi University where she graduated with her Masters degree in 2013. Leaster is certified by NYU School of Social Work to supervise social work interns which she previously did while working as a Clinical Case Manager with HomeBase. Leaster believes the fight for the less fortunate is one that will never end but one that also has its share of rewards.
