FDC provides housing support and eviction prevention by: Accompanying clients to NYCHA administrative and OTDA Fair Hearings to advocate for their rights; Reviewing DHCR rent histories, MCI increases, and lease renewals; Addressing overcharges with landlords directly; Requesting repairs via mail, phone, and HP action; Providing subsidy applications for SCRIE, DRIE, public assistance, Section 8, assisting tenants with applying for arrears grants, and more; FDC is an HPD Housing Ambassador and assists with NYC housing lottery access and applications; Assisting with apartment searches; Facilitating senior housing applications; and Coordinating housing clinics and workshops on Reasonable Accommodations, Source of Income Discrimination, Domestic Violence rights in housing, and more.
