Flatbush Tenant Coalition: Ocean Avenue Tenants Sue Landlord

Last week, the 1111 Ocean Avenue Tenant Association – a proud member of the Flatbush Tenant Coalition – filed a lawsuit against their landlord Sam Wasserman, demanding he finally fix nearly 600 open housing code violations. Many of the tenants in the building have been on rent strike for over two years, fighting for repairs to years-old leaks and massive ceiling collapses. With organizing support from FTC and legal representation by Brooklyn Legal Services – TRC, tenants demand that housing court steps in and not only forces their landlord to make repairs, but also brings REAL CONSEQUENCES for endangering their families’ lives!
